CAT50 tool holder used in horizontal machining center.
This unique tool holder addressed the specific requirements of an inconsistent workpiece. The piece was long and had undergone a weld process prior to the process for which this tool holder was designed.
This holder "finds" a workpiece feature, before drilling a hole on center. An orientation pin locks the rotating body in position for the tool change through a standard horizontal machining center.
Roller guides find the part feature during Z-axis advance. A self-centering slide compensates vertically for any d eviation (+/- 0.060"). A replaceable drill bushing centers the drill while the entire guide is allowed to compress with Z-axis drilling feed.
